40. Iran also has its own concerns about terrorism. The Mojaheddin-E-Khalq (MEK) armed group, which formerly operated from bases in Iraq, has been proscribed by the United Kingdom Government and by other EU governments as a terrorist organisation. The Foreign Office told us last year that American forces were "systematically detaining and disarming" MEK forces. Iran, however, remains concerned that some elements in the US have continued to support the activities of the MEK. We recommend that in its response to this Report the Government tell us what is the current extent of support for the terrorist organisation MEK in third countries, and what it is doing to minimise that support...
