Opposition 'claims' Tehran blast

There has been an explosion outside a military building in the Iranian capital, Tehran.

Two people were injured in the blast, which also caused some material damage.

It is not known what caused the explosion, but an armed opposition group, the People's Mujahedeen, says it was an attack carried out in response to what it called a wave of executions and arrests by the Iranian authorities.

On 2 May 2002, the Council [of Europe] added the Mojahedin organisation to the list of entities involved in terrorist acts whose assets are frozen and/or which are subject to judicial and police co-operation among Member States. Click here for the full text.
