Please help find the four Mojahedin members from Camp Ashraf Open Letter to Mr Brian Binley, MP Dear Mr Binley, Iran-Interlink has received unconfirmed reports that four members of the Mojahedin-e Khalq organisation have gone missing and are presumed to be in Iran. We have been unable to verify this information and are becoming increasingly concerned about the welfare of these individuals. As a Member of Parliament and a supporter of the proscribed terrorist organisation, Mojahedin-e Khalq, we hope that you will be in a position to discover the facts behind this news. The report we have received states that four individuals named as Mr Salim Ghafouri, Mr Mohsen Shahmoradi, Mr Ailreza Key Ghobadi and Ms Fatemeh Javadi, were extradited to Iran by Turkish government on 21st August 2006. The report has been posted on various websites. Since that time, no further information has been reported about the four. We have been in contact with Nejat Association which is based in Iran and which works to support ex-Mojahedin members who arrive in Iran. Unfortunately Nejat has no information at all about these four people. This is highly unusual because Nejat has been involved with all the previous former Mojahedin members who have arrived in Iran, whether through voluntary repatriation or through arrest. The disappearance of MKO members returning to Iran is extremely unlikely as the Iranian Government has issued an open amnesty to these people, since when, all returnees have been registered and their families have been informed of their arrival. As you know, over one thousand ex-members of the MKO are now living in different parts of Iran. Turkish sources have also denied the presence of these individuals in their country. The fate of these four individuals who are known to be from the Mojahedin in Iraq has become a serious mystery for all parties concerned. Dear Sir, What is most surprising is that the Mojahedin which, in the past has opposed the death sentence against mass murderers and rapists in Iran on the basis of defending their human rights, has so far denied any knowledge of these people. It is because of the lack of any definite confirmation of the report and the lack of any further information which would satisfy us as to the safety and wellbeing of these individuals, that we have taken what must appear the highly unusual step of asking for your help. No doubt you are informed that Iran-Interlink is deeply opposed to the continuation of human rights abuses by the Mojahedin organisation and holds the heads of this cult responsible for war crimes and crimes against humanity under the protection of Saddam Hussein. However, we are not writing to your good self about our differences and are confident that you have sufficient access to documents and evidence provided by the British Government if you wish to have this. As a Member of Parliament we hope you will rise above this partisan approach and deal with our request exclusively as a human rights issue. We believe that, in your capacity as an MP with close links with the Mojahedin, you will surely be able to ascertain what has happened to the four individuals named above. At what point in time and how they have come out of Camp Ashraf. We believe that the four individuals were among 3800 terrorist combatants who were formally interviewed and identified by US forces in camp Ashraf after the bombardment of the camp and the Mojahedin's surrender to coalition forces. These people were based in Camp Ashraf. Does the Mojahedin have any knowledge of their present whereabouts and whether they were indeed in Turkey or if they have been extradited to Iran. Would the Mojahedin announce the information about their missing members for the sake of the families of these unfortunate people? Your engagement in eliciting some answers from the organisation would certainly shed more light on this matter and would determine if indeed there is need for any urgent action to find these members of Mojahedin Khalq organisation and protect their basic human rights. Yours
sincerely, August 27, 2006
