The U.S. State Department's review of the terrorist list in October this year resulted in the continued inclusion of the Mojahedin-e Khalq and its aliases, the National Liberation Army of Iran (NLA) and the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCR, NCRI).

The European Union also reinforced its commitment to fighting terrorism with the continued inclusion of this terrorist cult organization in an update in November.

In a parliamentary debate in the House of Lords on November 1, 2005 the following was said:

Lord Corbett of Castle Vale: My Lords, I thank my noble friend for that reply. I suggest to him that the best response to that incitement to terrorism—that is what it was—is to treat the Iranian resistance as a friend who stands in the way of the mullahs' attempts to produce a lethal mix of Islamic fundamentalism and nuclear weapons. Will the Minister now review or remove the proscription on the Iranian resistance to signal support for those helping the people of Iran to achieve, through a saffron revolution, the democracy that the mullahs most fear?

Lord Triesman: My Lords, I understand why my noble friend has made that proposition, but I regret to tell him that we have no plans to carry out such a review. The MEK is proscribed in the United Kingdom under the Terrorism Act 2000. The MEK has a long history of involvement in terrorism in Iran and elsewhere and is, by its own admission, responsible for violent attacks that have resulted in many deaths. The MEK is listed in the United States as a foreign terrorist organisation and is on the EU's asset-freeze list. In spite of the above, neither the cult leader Maryam Rajavi (arrested in Paris in June 2003 and currently awaiting trial on terrorism charges), nor her aid in the House of Lords, Lord Corbett of Castle Vale, are willing to take a proper stance against the use of violence to achieve political aims, nor to answer to the documents and evidence showing links between the MKO and Saddam's secret services, nor are they willing to take a stance against the MKO's past twenty years of cooperation with Saddam Hussein and the MKO's participation in murdering Iranian, Iraqi's and even western citizens.

While Rajavi and Corbett have been working together for the past fifteen years – during which Lord Corbett's pictures and/or comments have regularly featured under the MKO cult's Kalashnikov logo - and refuse to denounce their so-called "armed struggle" and the torture and murder of their critics even in western countries, it has been noted that Robin Corbett who created the so-called "Committee for Iran Freedom" to lobby for Rajavi and her terrorist organization in the House of Lords has yet again lied to save the face of his terrorist master.

Lord Corbett has claimed that 405 law makers have signed a petition to the UK government asking for the this cult to be removed from the UK list of terrorist entities. Last year he claimed that 305 members of parliament have signed such a petition. In both cases he has failed to produce any petition or signatures and, misusing his impunity as an unelected member of the House of Lords, continues to issue these false statements.

The MKO cult's websites frequently use his name to publish fake propaganda including non-existent petitions and fabricated letters and statements from other people (including fake letters from former member of parliament Mr. Win Griffiths).

British lawmakers announce support for Iran opposition group Tue. 13 Dec 2005

London, Dec. 13 – Several hundred British lawmakers called Tuesday on the government of Prime Minister Tony Blair to abandon engagement with Iran’s religious leaders and remove the main Iranian opposition group, the Mojahedin-e Khalq (MeK), from the United Kingdom’s proscribed organisations list.

The announcement came in a parliamentary press conference, where several British lawmakers from the three major political parties spoke in favour of the MeK.

A statement signed by 405 lawmakers, including 279 Members of Parliament and 126 Peers, called for the “removal of the terror label against the [MeK]”. It described the label as the “the most important impediment” to democratic change in Iran.

Lord Corbett of Castle Vale, who chairs the British Parliamentary Committee for Iran Freedom which organised the conference, told participants, “The only reason the [MeK] was proscribed was in a shabby deal to please the mullahs. The policy of appeasement is in ruins as Iran moves nearer to developing nuclear weapons and continues its gross interference in Iraq”.

Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran, a coalition which includes the MeK, described the statement as the “voice of the people of Great Britain calling for change in the policy towards Iran”.

“Through this statement, Parliament is showing its support for taking the Mojahedin off the terror list. Parliament wants an end to the policy of appeasement of the mullahs. It declares support for democratic change by the people of Iran and the Iranian Resistance”, Rajavi told the conference via a live satellite link.
