MKO Members in Iraq Seek Defection

Ehsan Naraghi - interview with Voice of America
November 11, 2004

Ehsan Naraghi, in an interview with VOA about the reelection of President Bush and its influences, referred to the issues of the region and relations between Iran and the US, and highlighted the points to which Bush Administration can pay more attention. Elsewhere he said:

"Another issue I heard is about Mojahedin-e khalq. 3500 MKO members have been submitted to International committee of Red Cross and the committee should check their status one by one. Some of them seek defection. They want to leave the organization. But it seems that the US doesn't allow them, nor agrees with them. They should solve this problem at the table. I believe the first phase of these talks is in Sharm Al-Sheikh on November 23rd. I hope they will talk in a positive process because it's not only the issue of Iran, it's the issue of the region. I am optimistic about Sharm Al-Sheikh meeting and I hope Bush's reelection encourages him to have good results at the end."
