Germany Expels MKO Members

11 May 2004

"Stat Roo" magazine, published in Köln, wrote: the refugee status of 12 women has been canceled due to their membership in Mojahedin-e Khalq.

These 12 women left Iraq a day before war, on Mach 19, 2003, and went to Germany, where German police stopped them and confiscated for their passports.

The magazine added: in October 2003, the immigration office of Köln informed them that they should leave Germany because they are a threat for the security of this country.

These women are members of the MKO leadership. They were in Iraq and had taken part in armed struggle against Iran. Now, their refugee status has been canceled, they can't work and can't rent a house.

In May 2002, Mojahedin was placed on the EU's list of terrorist organizations.

In the 80s, the Mojahedin enjoyed wide support from German politicians but they left Mojahedin alone after starting constructive talks with Iran.
